In the Sonoran Desert, every plant and creature is a master of endurance. From the saguaro storing lifetimes of water to the night-blooming flowers that live for a single dawn, the desert whispers of resilience. My pottery, with its earth tones and flowing forms, mirrors this place—each vessel a small homage to the balance of strength and fragility found here.

More About Texture and form

I love the way the raw clay looks when it’s either leather hard or bone dry. I’m also experimenting with textures to see how the glazes break over it. What I’ve noticed is that dipped glaze doesn’t break too often. To really get the full effect of the texture, glazes need to be brushed on because brush strokes tend to be inconsistent and vary. While most people don’t like that, I do like that. It makes it look more natural to me. As I continue to feel this out, I’ll be posting more experimental things until I really nail down what I like.
