Sonoran Shino
Sonoran Shino is a glaze I combined to create a single glaze that looks as close to Sonoran Desert cacti as I could get. The glaze breaks in such a way that it represents the desert sands. This glaze is considered my primary glaze.
My work comes from slowing down and paying attention—to clay, to heat, to the quiet systems that keep the Sonoran Desert alive. Pottery teaches patience and restraint, the same lessons found in cactus, birds, and hard ground shaped by time. I build each piece with respect for place, process, and the wildlife that makes this landscape feel inhabited rather than empty.

A variegated reddish-brown that breaks over texture. Often attains a lacquer-like finish, but can turn glossy pink where thickest. Beautiful with Black.
A bright and unbreaking yellow, similar to Buttercup but without the glossy finish.
A lighter version of our Shino glaze, Light Shino is a creamy beige where it pools, and breaks to a darker brown over texture.
